Grade 1: Superficial Ulcer (No Infection)

What it means: The protective skin barrier has broken down. This is typically caused by repeated pressure on a callus or injury that went unnoticed due to numbness.

  • Offloading — removing pressure from the wound using special footwear, casts, or crutches

Grade 3: Deep Ulcer with Abscess, Osteomyelitis, or Septic Arthritis
